We Won! Now What?

The Xolos are a pro soccer team in Tijuana, only in their sixth season (full name Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente, if you must). And they're playing for the championship now, with sellout crowds and plans to expand the Estadio Caliente underway. It's said that the team's fast success is giving a lift to Tijuana, a city which, let's put it charitably, could use a lift. And that raises the topic of how much a sports team's success is worth. Especially when a team is threatening to leave unless taxpayers give them a stadium (hello, Sacramento), is that expense worth the money? (U-T San Diego)
