More From The Unintended Consequences File

We've been through this before, but a study of San Francisco's law says that the city's plastic bag ban may be unhealthy because of the bacteria carried by reusable bags. It's not exactly KILLING people, as Chronicle columnist Debra Saunders notes, but it's not healthy, either. And you DON'T wash your bags, do you? Of course not. I'll be honest: Since Ralphs/Kroger stopped giving out cashback rewards for using your own bags (they now give useless fuel credits), I'd rather just take the paper bags, which come into handy to carry recycling out to the bins.
