He Seemed So Nice, Other Than The Burst Of Irrational Violence Now And Then
-
You don't always really know your friends and neighbors, as seen in this case of a "gentle giant" of a man who's now in prison for murdering his wife -- the neighbors and friends can't believe he did it, even though he's on tape telling his sons "I’m sorry for what I had to do" and explaining calmly that his wife, their mom, had joined a motorcycle club and had been spending more and more time away from him. What he "had to do," it turned out, is bludgeon her, then, when she wouldn't die, slash her 25 times and slit her throat. Everyone says it was all totally out of character, except for some people who say they thought something darker might be lurking when he took an electric saw to her motorcycle a few weeks before the murder. GEE, THINK THAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN A SIGN? Did people hear about that and think, well, that's interesting? They heard about that and they were still surprised when he killed her? (Bergen Record)
