The New York Times is changing the name of the International Herald Tribune to the International New York Times, which kind of already exists, so there won't really be a Herald Tribune anymore, and that's another icon lost. The IHT was, besides the last vestige of the late, lamented New York Herald Tribune, a beacon of English-language news in the days before the Internet and satellite TV and USA Today everywhere made it redundant. A name change isn't going to make a lot of difference, but it's another familiar brand name biting the dust. (BBC)
