This study of rats may seem contrived -- is stress really the same for rats as is it for humans? -- but the bottom line is that they wanted to see if people who exercise under duress, like people who were forced by a doctor or spouse to hit the gym, can still reduce the effects of stress on those people, and it turns out that even if you hate exercise and don't want to be doing it, you'll still see stress reduction and feel less anxious and more relaxed afterwards. So you don't have to LIKE working out, but you do have to do it. (New York Times)
