The Bedrock Principles Upon Which Our Great Nation Was Founded
-
There's now archeological evidence that colonists in Jamestown resorted to cannibalism during the winter of 1609-1610, while they were suffering from sickness, starvation, and native attacks. One account was of a husband who apparently killed his pregnant wife and, and this is really gross to read, salted her flesh for storage and later consumption. The account says that he was executed for that. I suppose you could ask your listeners what it would take for them to resort to cannibalism, but I'm not sure I even want to know the answer to that.
