Sympathy For The Middleman
-
Tesla Motors is being targeted by a bill in the North Carolina legislature which would ban car makers from selling a car directly to the public in the state. This is the doing of car dealers, who say it's unfair competition. Hey, it's also the future. Tesla, in case you don't know, takes out showrooms in shopping malls where you take a look at the models, then you order online and it's shipped to you. The car dealers say that's unfair because there's no local dealer to take care of you with that homey local touch. But if that's important to consumers, won't they continue to go to local dealers? Are the dealers afraid that decades of ripping off consumers and high-pressure sales tactics are about to bite them in the ass? (Fox News)
