What's The Effect Of Plodding? 'Cause That's Pretty Much What I Do
-
I run, but it's somewhere between a run and a walk, because I'm slow. And I've wondered, with studies popping up now and again, whether it would make a difference if I slowed to a walk. The answer, in the latest study of running vs. walking, seems to make sense: If your goals include controlling your weight (check!), you gotta run. You may think that's obvious, but it's not: they measured weight effects of people who burned the same amount of calories either way and determined that a runner who burns, say, 1,000 calories will eat less than someone who walked off 1,000 calories. There's some kind of effect on your appetite. So, run. (New York Times)
