Aberdeen, WA is not going to remove the welcome sign at the edge of town that says "Come As You Are," and I trust I don't have to tell you why this was a controversy. Oh, okay, here: Kurt Cobain grew up there. So, yeah, when word got out that the sign might be moved, it became a controversy, with Nirvana fans fearing that the sign would disappear. But the Mayor says it's there to stay. Of course, Kurt wasn't Aberdeen's biggest fan, and was rebellious while he grew up there. But biographers and Krist Novoselic say he didn't really hate the place, so I suppose it's okay. (Daily World, Aberdeen)
