This may or may not be the hundredth anniversary of the T-shirt. Nobody's quite sure. In 1913, the Navy bought an order of a "light undershirt" for sailors. That might have been the beginning, but that also might not be. By 1920, F. Scott Fitzgerald was using the term T-shirt in "This Side of Paradise." But they might have been around from the previous century. The name comes from the shape of the garment, by the way. (Los Angeles Times)
