Skip The 'Comedy,' Hire A Singer
-
The L.A. County Sheriff's office is "trying to figure out" how they hired a comedian who told ethnic jokes that some are calling racist at the Sheriff's Day luncheon. Here's the L.A. Times describing "San Juan," a Filipino comic: "San Juan made jokes containing stereotypes about Koreans and used the N-word in a joke in which he mocked a thick Filipino accent. Other jokes got into racial and sexual stereotypes." The department would like you to know that it was not an official department event, but, really, it's run by people from the department. And I bet they saw that the guy was Filipino and assumed he wouldn't do that kind of humor, being a minority comic himself. Whoops. (Los Angeles Times)
