When The Going Gets Tough... Aah, Let's Go Home
-
Wow, can you imagine a high school in football-mad Western Pennsylvania canceling its entire football season less than a week before the opening game because they couldn't get enough decent experienced players and one of the "two or three" kids with varsity experience got hurt? That's amazing, but I wonder if the hesitancy of parents to let their kids play due to the risk of concussion is having an effect. (My college, also in Pennsylvania, gave up football when the coach was reduced to walking up to kids in the lunch line and pleading with them to play. But that was a long time before the concussion concerns were obvious. It was just a small school of weird intellectual hipster types and nobody wanted to play....) (Johnstown Tribune Democrat)
