Interns Are People, Too. I Know, It's Easy To Forget That
-
How hard does your station push your interns? This intern for a couple of Edmonton stations died in a car crash after working an overnight shift, and his family and friends are pointing to his having to work 16 hours in a 24-hour period. They think he fell asleep while driving. They also say he tried to say no to that kind of schedule but that the company threatened not to give him the credit he needed to graduate. The stations say that a government investigation cleared them, but we all know what hours young people in this business have to do. We've perhaps done them ourselves. Do we have a problem here? (CBC)
