Since When Is Accessorizing Against The Rules?
-
An eighth-grade boy has been suspended from school for carrying a Vera Bradley purse, He says he's expressing himself. Um, okay. And his supportive mom notes that girls are allowed to carry purses. True, that. And, yeah, it's weird under traditional gender roles for a boy to be carrying a brightly-colored purse (and we are NOT going to get into the whole gender role debate here on my watch), but so what? Is he hurting anyone? Is he carrying contraband? What's the difference if he's carrying this or a backpack or both? Let him carry what he wants. (KCTV/Kansas City)
