Maybe Doing Your Banking On Your Phone Isn't Such A Great Idea
-
It's not Sweeps Month in the U.K., but here's a scare story about how your smartphone could conceivably be hacked through your front-facing camera and mic into giving up your PIN and password. The idea is that once the hackers get access to your camera and mic, they can tell by the sound when there's a "touch event," then track which buttons you hit by your eye movements. The tests by the University of Cambridge got the entries right 50-60% of the time, which is enough for it to be more than theoretically possible. But it seems like a lot of work to get information that can also be gotten by someone looking over your shoulder. (BBC)
