They Know What You Want Before You Do
-
I'm not sure whether to be creeped out or impressed, or maybe both, that Amazon has applied for a patent for starting shipping orders to you even before you've placed the orders. the plan involves tracking what you're likely to buy, moving the stuff to regional distribution centers, and having everything ready to go the moment that you click to place your order. That doesn't mean that they're going to actually ship the goods before you've paid for them, but they're trying to stay one step ahead of you and get closer and closer to practically instantaneous delivery. They're not that far off as it is: we use Amazon Prime, and, more and more, orders are being shipped with next day delivery without additional charge. (USA Today)
