They'll Grow Enemies When The Parents Find Out How Much Youth Hockey Costs
-
The Anaheim Ducks have been reasonably successful over the years, but they're not leaving things to chance. No, they've been aggressive in promoting youth hockey to ensure today's Southern California kids will grow up hockey fans, too, despite growing up in a non-hockey-hotbed. Now, that's what pro soccer has done in America, too, but it hasn't really worked out the way they'd like -- youth soccer's enormously successful but most pro soccer matches have plenty of seats available. Can you make fans by having them participate in the sport, or is that unrelated to being a spectator? (New York Times)
