When $1.2 Billion Is Pocket Change... Damn
-
What's enough of a penalty? Toyota dodged responsibility for sudden acceleration problems with its cars for years, and now has reached a settlement with the feds for $1.2 billion. That's huge. Toyota will make $19 billion in profits for this fiscal year alone. Is 12 percent of a single year's profits even a deterrent? They lied about the problem to consumers and regulators. How much should they pay? (Detroit News)
