Offended? Don't Read Them

It's that time again, the annual American Library Association list of the books most challenged at schools and libraries, and topping the list for a second time is the "Captain Underpants" series. Yes, the goofy kids' books are considered evil by some parents because, you know, underpants and stuff. What's most striking about the list is how people are completely incapable of understanding context -- books that depict racism in order to criticize racism are cited for... racism. Books that show violence to criticize violence are cited for... violence. The bright spot is that complaints are down. (AP via WTOP/Washington)
