Yeah, Well, Atlanta's A Lot Bigger. That's How It Goes

Orlando's pissed off. MLS wouldn't give the city a soccer franchise unless it built a new, soccer-specific stadium, so it pulled out the checkbook and committed to it (although it's stalled by land acquisition problems). But they gave Atlanta a franchise with no stadium commitment, and Atlanta is just sticking its franchise in the new Falcons stadium. (The new Yankees-Manchester City-owned New York club also doesn't have a new stadium solidified and will play at least a few years in Yankee Stadium.) The league, for its part, lauds the technology that'll make the billion-dollar-plus Atlanta stadium "intimate" for soccer, but Orlando's wondering what would have been wrong with just staying in the renovated Citrus Bowl, and maybe wondering why they should go ahead and spend $80 million on the new stadium.
