Timing Is Everything

According to the family, Elliot Rodger's divorced parents were in the process of racing to Isla Vista after discovering his manifesto and videos when the news broke, hearing about a shooting on the radio while driving. They did call 911 first as they headed north. His mom had been tipped off by his therapist, but too late- he called 13 minutes before the rampage began, teling her to check her email for the manifesto Elliot sent to them. So while they knew their son was a little off and possibly somewhere on the spectrum near Asperger's, they had no idea until it was too late that it would manifest itself like this. They'd been concerned before, though; they called the police on April 30th, but the cops didn't think that there was enough alarm for an involuntary mental health hold. So they missed the signs.
