Oh, Fine, Just Give Them All Numbers

By now, you've seen that study that claims people don't flee as fast, and therefore die more, from female-named hurricanes than male-named storms because they "don't respect" women's power. And you've seen the hashtag #YesAllHurricanes and you may have noted that the study left out Katrina and Audrey, which means it's invalid. Also, I've experienced hurricanes, including Katrina (I was in Fort Lauderdale when it first made landfall and ripped up Broward and Miami-Dade pretty good), and I have seen zero sexism among people in the path of a hurricane -- a hurricane is a hurricane. Do you buy that sexism is involved when people are facing a devastating storm? (Washington Post)
