Skittles Always Seem To Be Trouble, Don't They?
-
A drive-in theater in South Jersey -- yes, I'm shocked there still is one -- booted a Type I diabetic teen for trying to bring in his own Skittles and a juice box as part of his emergency kit, along with his insulin and syringes. The owner says, well, I sell candy and soda, so you can't bring any in, even if you're a Type I diabetic and may need it faster than running to the snack bar will provide. He said that if he lets one person do it, everyone will use it as an excuse. Would a doctor's note work? No, the owner is a pediatrician himself. What's weird to me is why they were checking the kid's bag in the first place. Do they search everyone as they come in? If the kid left the bag in the trunk or the console or the glove compartment, would they ever have known? (WPVI-TV/Philadelphia)
