Kids Will Put Their Fingers In Anything. We Should've Adapted To That By Now
-
A 2-year-old boy found out the hard way not to stick your hand in the mall escalator -- by the time they were able to rescue him, he'd lost a finger and had another severely damaged. They don't say how he got his hand stuck, but those things are dangerous. What I don't understand, though, is how, after having escalators around since the 19th century, we still haven't made them safe enough. They have automatic shutoffs, right? And teeth that are tight enough not to let a finger or clothing get caught, right? No? Why not? (KPTV/Portland)
