The Warnings Were There. Nobody Listened
-
President Obama said on "60 Minutes" that until now everyone in the intelligence community "underestimated" ISIS or ISIL or whatever we're calling them and what they were up to in Syria. But ABC News points out that three times, once as early as last November, key intelligence leaders -- Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Iraq and Iran Brett McGuirk, Ambassador to Iraq Robert Beecroft, and Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, the Pentagon's top intelligence official, warned of the ISIS threat, McGuirk and Flynn in testimony on Capitol Hill. So there WERE warnings within the administration. Not everyone was underestimating the threat. It's like the president is saying he's taking responsibility but isn't, and throwing people under the bus who DID warn him. (ABC News)
