But They'll Still Get Your Name Wrong On The Cup
-
You know Square, the app and swipe thing for your phone that lets you use it to process credit cards or pay for stuff. Their latest move in what is becoming, with Apple Pay, a very crowded category is to not only let you order and pre-pay for your coffee, but to signal the barista when you're coming into the store so they can have your order ready to go. They're offering it at San Francisco and New York's trendy Blue Bottle Coffee, and at first glance it seems like a cool idea -- it means zero waiting at the shop. You'd just stride in, grab your coffee, and go. But you can also imagine businesses knowing your every move, and that's a little creepy. Is the wait at Starbucks that onerous?
