Nature Pranks Us Yet Again

Perfect headline: "Residents riled by smelly nuts." No, not those. The problem is gingko tree residue, and it stinks. This is in Japan, but there are gingkos imported to America, including those on a path at my college campus. When those nuts fell and split, the smell was atrocious, like someone had projectile-vomited gallons per foot from Haverford all the way to Bryn Mawr. They turn a cool shade of yellow in the Fall, but then the nuts hit the ground and it's horrific. And someone gave them as a gift to the college and Lower Merion Township, so, gee, thanks, donor.
