Los Angeles, Boston, San Francisco, and Washington are bidding on the 2024 Summer Olympics. The IOC wants a cheaper event, so cities with existing facilities and infrastructure have a leg up. But, still, if it costs $4 to $5 billion and it's going to be an inconvenience to the locals, I'd rather see it go elsewhere. The 110 freeway's crowded enough as it is. And I know the last L.A. Olympics was successful, but, still, it's a risk. (Los Angeles Times)
