It's All Adam Sandler's Fault. It's ALWAYS Adam Sandler's Fault

2014 had the lowest North American movie attendance since 1995. That's not good. But we've reached this point for several reasons. One is that the movies are now the province of superhero blockbusters, for the most part, aimed at 18-24 year old males or 12-18 year old females. If you're not in those groups, there's less for you. Two is that you have SO many more on-demand options for home viewing, like Netflix and Amazon Instant Prime and Hulu and cable on-demand, so there's less reason to go to the multiplex. And three is that television these days is often better than movies -- really, whether it's "OITNB" or "House of Cards" or "Game of Thrones" or "Transparent" or "Fargo" or so many others, binge-viewing TV can be more enjoyable than going to see movies.
