By 'Loss Prevention,' They Mean 'Loss Tolerance (To A Certain Extent)'
-
A Walmart manager chased and caught up to a shoplifter, who punched him in the face. The manager held the guy for police and recovered the goods. His reward? He got fired. Yes, it's yet another case where a store employee is fired for not following the edict not to chase shoplifters. Worse, the store was without loss prevention staffers that night because none of them would work the late shift. And the firing was for "gross misconduct," so right now he's banned from ever working for Walmart or Sam's Club again. Maybe that sounds OK to you, but there's a narrow range of jobs for store managers like that. (Montgomery Advertiser/AL.com)
