Nasty Habit, But It's Not Illegal... Yet

A California legislator wants to ban chewing tobacco from pro baseball games in the state. He thinks it's bad for "role models" to chew the stuff. Now, a couple of things: Are baseball players still "role models" when kids don't really go for baseball as much anymore and players are still marked with the PED User tag? Second, is it the state's business to get involved in what people do in the dugout, where the public is not invited? Yes, chewing tobacco is lethal and players shouldn't do it, but is that the state's job to stop or baseball's? (Los Angeles Times)
