Hey, If Everybody Chips In $100,000 Each... Okay, You Go First
-
A local rapper has released a "Save Our Bolts" music video to support the movement to keep the Chargers in San Diego. It's quaint to think that the fans matter. If they stay, it's because they'll have extorted a stadium out of the city, for which taxpayers will be stuck with the bill, not because of loyalty. And if they go, it's because Carson or Inglewood or Stan Kroenke offered them a deal they couldn't refuse, or that the league decided that it would prefer keeping L.A. as the ultimate stadium-extortion bargaining chip to get new domes in more cities. I know, they might look to Sacramento keeping the Kings as an example, but Sacramento had to agree to build a new arena and find a willing new owner, and that was a case of bad ownership leading the team into trouble. In San Diego, they do need a new stadium, but there is no public money for it, and the benefit of suddenly getting L.A. valuation for the franchise can't be lost on the Spanos clan.
