Good news for McDonald's workers: The chain is raising wages to a dollar more than local minimum wage, and offering benefits to more workers. It's not the $15/hour the labor groups have been clamoring for, but it's better than nothing. Bad news: This is only for workers at corporate-owned locations. That's about 10% of the total. The other 90% work for franchisees, and the hope is that the franchisees will feel the need to keep up with the corporate moves. What this means for the price of a Big Mac, we'll see.
