And For The Rest Of Us, Either Way, We'll Pay More
-
The City of Los Angeles is heading for a $15/hour minimum wage, and this has restaurants, in particular, panicked. And they're asking the city to include tips in figuring out wages to ease the blow a little. They claim tips have some of their servers making more than $15 as it is and that since they also have to pay taxes on the tips (sure, they declare all that cash), the tips are part of servers' wages. But it's another element of the "living wage" debate. (Los Angeles Times)
