Any Resemblance Between This Disaster And A Real Disaster Is Purely Coincidental
-
I just saw a commercial for "San Andreas," the new Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson flick, on the NBA Playoffs, so I'm not sure that they're really "rethinking" the film's marketing after the Nepal earthquake. The commercial showed plenty about the premise of the movie, which is a rescue after a massive, city-destroying earthquake. The movie is still coming out May 29th, but it'll include information about relief efforts and tips about preparing for a real quake in its publicity material, all in the name of seeming to be "sensitive." Does a PR campaign belatedly tacked to a marketing campaign that shows buildings collapsing and cities in ruin really make a difference in sensitivity? Does it need to? (BBC)
