No Harm, No Foul, Basically
-
New Jersey may soon be the last state that prohibits customers from pumping their own gas. But what would happen if you DID pump your own gas? Apparently, probably nothing. Okay, an attendant will then rush over (finally!) and shoo you away, and other customers will roll their eyes at you -- such an out-of-state rube! -- but the law is rarely enforced. Really, you won't be ticketed unless an inspector is right there watching, and, for the most part, they aren't. But unless you're in an extreme hurry, you're probably best off waiting.
