Stubbornly Clinging To 1956

Not everybody in New Jersey thinks people should be able to pump their own gas, including the State Senate leader, so the bills that are pending in the legislature to enable self-service gas might not make it after all. New Jersey and Oregon are, of course, the last holdouts against self-service gas pumping, and it's all about unions and jobs. They try to make it about senior citizens and the disabled being unable to pump their own gas, but that's not the real issue, because in 48 other states, that doesn't seem to be a problem. Is preserving a bunch of low-paying jobs worth the extra nickel or so per gallon? (Philly.com)
