Wilt Who?

Dead: Bevo Francis. Who? Well, when I was very young, I heard tales of Bevo Francis, the college basketball player of the early '50s (Rio Grande College, which is, improbably, in Ohio and pronounced "RYE-oh," NOT "REE-oh") who once scored 113 and then 116 points in a game, the former standing as the record until last year (long story on how the latter didn't count). And he never played in the NBA -- he played for the Globetrotters' stooge team, then in the Eastern League and the short-lived ABL before taking a factory job. Kind of a legend. (New York Times)
