Some Guy Just Tweeted His Disappointment. Quick, Rewrite The Ending
-
This review of season 2 of "True Detective" raises an interesting question: Are TV shows and movies being changed, for the worse, because of instant Internet "microcriticism?" The idea is this: You put out a show, and it's received with rapture. But then the nit-pickers start a backlash, and they criticize things like casting diversity, the scripts' treatment of female characters, the plot progression, you name it. And then, for the next series or sequel, punches are pulled and the writers and producers go the safe route to avoid repeat criticism. That's what this critic thinks happened to "True Detective," which she thinks is taking no chances after season one went from well-received to a punching bag on Twitter. (Los Angeles Times)
