Companies, especially web-based ones, say they'll never send your personal data to third parties without your consent. They lie. The big loophole: when they sell the company. That's when your vital information lands in the hands of someone else, who can and will use it for whatever they want. You really have no recourse other than to not use anything, ever. That isn't an ideal situation. (New York Times)
