Back When Every Mall Pay Phone Had At Least Two Teenage Girls Attached
-
It's the 50th anniversary of the opening of Dallas' NorthPark Mall, which today is one of the most upscale and ritzy malls you'll find anywhere (it's basically packed with art -- real, museum-quality pieces -- and expensive stores). But here's the 1965 store directory, from when it was not quite as upscale (there was a Kroger there, and two gas stations, and JC Penney); there are only two stores (Neiman Marcus and Zales) that have been in that mall for all 50 years. And I'm including that here because you can look at this and see store chains that are now just memories, and reminisce about the stores you hung out by when you were a teenager. Hot Shoppes! Woolworth! Ours were Sam Goody and Harmony Hut.... (Dallas Morning News)
