Never Is Heard A Discouraging Word

Thailand doesn't have a First Amendment-style free speech guarantee, and so Tuesday's New York Times is unavailable there. Why? Because the local printer refused to print it. Why? Because there was an article about the Thai monarchy and the concern over the King's health, and it isn't flattering to the crown prince. Apparently, you can't print anything that might be considered sensitive to the ruling class there. In the Internet age, though, is it even possible to stop people from seeing things like this? Print is no longer the only way to read news, you know. (CNN Money)
