She Would Prefer 'A Charlie Brown Non-Celebratory Ennui'
-
Man, it must be tough having such deep and unshakable convictions about things that, in the long run, just do not matter even a little bit that you're willing to quit over them. Take this New Jersey city council member who was so upset that the city was calling its holiday tree lighting a "Christmas" tree lighting that she quit, saying that she's a former Catholic who's now a non-believer and she did not want to be part of such exclusionary actions. Exclusionary? Okay, I'm Jewish and I do not celebrate Christmas, but it does not make me feel "excluded" that someone else or the city or the shopping mall have Christmas decorations up, or that there's Christmas music on the radio. So... oh, look, she rescinded her resignation. Guess her convictions aren't quite as strong as they were the day before. (NJ Advance Media/NJ.com)
