Oh, Well, There's Always The Cardinals, Ted Drewes, And Toasted Ravioli

When the St. Louis Rams released a statement explaining their application to move to Los Angeles and trashed St. Louis as a bad economy with limited growth prospects that no NFL team would want, the folks in St. Louis were not pleased. But this St. Louis Post-Dispatch financial columnist says that the reason people are insulted might be because a lot of what the Rams said is true. The market IS slow growth, or declining. Even if they build a new stadium, the market isn't going to turn around that quickly. That's not to say St. Louis doesn't deserve a team, or can't support three pro franchises. But it is to say that if you owned a business there and you could move it to a place where your operation would shoot up in value overnight, in a wide open market much, much larger than your present city, where there's growth and international name recognition and prestige, would you not go?
