I'm Sure Their Calls Were Of Vital Importance

Three passengers were booted off a flight at Orlando's airport because they allegedly wouldn't stop using their cell phones. And I'm of two minds on that. We know that the danger to navigation from cell phones on planes has been overstated, and that the primary effect is just to overload cells on the ground. But if there's a chance that using the phone during takeoff and landing could cause interference, is it so hard to turn the damn thing to airplane mode for a few minutes? And isn't someone yammering on a cell phone in a plane cabin annoying as hell? (WKMG-TV/Orlando)
