Officials in Minnesota are asking people to stop flushing goldfish and other fish or throwing them into the lake, because that introduces non-native species into the local lakes and rivers and that's bad. They say that some goldfish grow "to the size of dinner plates" in the lake waters, and if you flush them, they'll only be killed at the wastewater treatment plant. Also, it's illegal. You're supposed to donate them instead. Not sure where you'd take them to donate them -- I don't think the Salvation Army or Goodwill take fish -- but now you know. (Minneapolis Star-Tribune)
