I Lost Track At 'It's The Real Thing'
-
I'm bringing this interview with Coca-Cola's Chief Marketing Officer to your attention because it's spectacularly filled with the kind of mindless marketing reasoning and jargon that's basically the stereotype of the whole marketing industry. He's being interviewed because Coke is changing its slogan from "Open Happiness" to "Taste the Feeling," and I have to say, I had no idea "Open Happiness" was the slogan for years. Also, they think that these slogans actually say profound things and connect with consumers' deepest thoughts. They don't. "Taste the Feeling"? If you feel like sh-t, is that what you taste? And what the F does "Open Happiness" mean? Someone gets paid very well to come up with, and justify, this. (Ad Age)
