Another Thing You Can't Unsee

A weird birth defect has become more and more common, and doctors are baffled as to why: It's called gastroschisis, and it's when a baby's born with its intestines spilling out from its stomach wall. It's disturbing to see the drawing of what this looks like. It's usually fixable, but it can cause ongoing digestive problems and it's complicated surgery with long recovery times. Is it environmental? If it is, which toxin is involved? 2,000 babies are born with gastroschisis each year, and that's 2.000 too many. (Los Angeles Times)
