We Can't Find New Ideas. It's Haaaarrrrd

Hey, radio people, please read this about "Guardians of the Galaxy" director James Gunn fearing that Hollywood will get the wrong message from the success of "Deadpool," much as he fears Hollywood got the wrong impression from his own movie's huge success. In both cases, he thinks the studios will just say they want, respectively, a foul-mouthed fourth-wall-breaking antihero or a bunch of misfit characters making pop culture jokes while '70s pop songs play. They SHOULD, he believes, be looking for unique, different properties that are totally unrelated to those but have someone with a singular, unwavering vision behind them, and let that person do it. That's how both movies came about. But he's right, we'll just get clones. And any resemblance to how radio's talent search goes is purely right the F on target. (The Hollywood Reporter)
