And An AM-Only Radio, I Bet

This guy bought a Volvo in 1966. He still has it. And it's got over 3 million miles on it. He says he's going to keep it going. Funny; I drive Volvos and just gave one up after 181,000 miles. This guy's on a mission, and he's spending a LOT on maintenance to keep the car pristine -- LOTS of oil changes and transmission fluid changes and other things every single year. When does it go from being worth it to being a weird obsession, a psychological thing? Because I admit, I was aiming to hit over 200,000 miles before I realized I was putting a lot of money into the old heap, it was lacking safety and entertainment features I wanted, and it wasn't going to get any cheaper, while buying a replacement wasn't going to get any cheaper, either. If you're a collector and want a vintage car, that's one thing. If you're just obsessed with how many miles you can put on a car, that's... odd. (New York Post)
